It seems everyone has an opinion about President Donald Trump these days. And everyone is more than happy to share their thoughts with anyone who will listen. This is especially true among his harshest critics within the media and the Democratic Party – which is what makes the recent comments by former Vice President Joe Biden surprising.
Tuesday, when given the chance to pile on, Biden said Trump “deserves a chance to govern.” At a press conference at the University of Delaware, Biden told reporters that the new commander in chief has been “playing catch-up,” leading to a rocky transition. The problem, said Biden, was that Trump never expected to win the race for the White House.
When pressed on whether Trump really has a right to expect bipartisan support and help from both side of the political divide, Biden quipped, “Sure he does.”
Biden continued, “That’s why you haven’t seen the president on any of the shows. He deserves a chance, and in fairness to him, this is a man in my view, who understandably, like all the press, didn’t think he was gonna win.”
Hillary Clinton, on the other hand, already had here list of cabinet and West Wing picks months before Election Day, he explained.
“In fairness to Trump, I don’t think there was thought or any necessity to do that. So he’s really playing catch-up. He should be given a chance. It’s too early to judge.”
