Left-leaning political leaders, along with their accomplices in the media, have been quick to criticize Republicans for being “in the pocket” of the NRA, on the heels of the Parkland, Florida shooting. But what about Planned Parenthood’s support for Democrats? Who gives more, the NRA or Planned Parenthood?
The Sunday news programs have been quick to jump on Republicans because of the money they rake in from the NRA. The accusation is that they are “afraid” of the NRA, and unwilling to stand up to the Second Amendment lobby organization. They totally ignore the support Planned Parenthood gives liberal politicians, of course.
Here’s the raw data, from Newsweek, not exactly a bastion of conservatism.
Last year, the NRA spend $5 million on lobbying.
Planned Parenthood, on the other hand, spent $38 million. And that does not include another $40 million they spent on “public policy” or the $175 million spent on “movement building.”
Further, unlike the NRA, Planned Parenthood actually takes money from the government – to the tune of half a billion dollars a year.
This is not to say the NRA has no influence over conservative politicians. They do; otherwise, they are wasting their money. But for the media to focus exclusively on the NRA’s $5 million to the total exclusion of Planned Parenthood’s $263 million is a joke.
$5 million given to Republicans is coercion, but $263 million given to Democrats is not. Surely no serious media outlet can cover these groups with such obvious bias.
But they do it – at all the major networks. Amazingly, they even do it with a straight face.
