A man wrote a letter to a small hotel in a Midwest town he planned to visit on his vacation. He wrote, “I would very much like to bring my dog with me. He is well-groomed and very well behaved. Would you be willing to permit me to keep him in my room with me at night?”
An immediate reply came from the owner of the hotel. “I’ve been operating this hotel for 25 years. In all that time, I’ve never had a dog steal towels, bed clothes, or silverware. I’ve never had a dog remove a picture from the wall. I’ve never had to evict a dog in the middle of the night for being drunk and disorderly. And I’ve never had a dog run out on paying his bill. Yes, indeed, your dog is welcome at my hotel. And if your dog will vouch for you, you are welcome to stay here, as well.”
I have traveled with my dog many times. We’ve stayed in hotels together. All she needs to be happy is to walk with her master at night, sleep with her master, and awaken to her master the next day.
It’s really too bad that people aren’t as smart as dogs. Learn to find joy by walking with your Master throughout today. I love the way the Bible says it. “Enoch walked faithfully with God; then he was no more, because God took him away” (Genesis 5:24).
