I love food. Food is a Denison tradition. It is our favorite thing to eat. I think I’ll traverse the country, chasing after the great food festivals that are offered. Just reading this will make your stomach growl.
In May, I will look forward to the Rocky Mountain Oyster Festival, held in that great Rocky Mountain get-away, Throckmorton, Texas. In Pocahontas County, West Virginia, we can all look forward to the annual Roadkill Cookoff. For those who prefer the beauty of Hawaii, you can fill up at the Waikiki Spam Jam.
My personal favorite is the Bugfest in Raleigh, North Carolina. If you are from Oklahoma, I’m sure you are familiar with the Rattlesnake Hunt they’ve been doing in Waurika for over 50 years.
Of course, Bell Buckle, Tennessee is best known for their annual Moon Pie Festival. And when in Freemont, Michigan, you will want to enjoy the fare at the National Baby Food Festival.
Having considered all these options, I may try fasting, reading Scripture, and prayer first. See ya in Waurika! Or better yet, enjoy the bread of life.
Jesus said, “I am the living bread that came down from heaven, which a man may eat and not die” (John 6:51).
